Adorable and surprisingly fast, the Shetland Pony race is a fun event for the whole family and a fan favorite every year at the Washington International Horse Show. Established in 1958, the Washington International Horse Show (WIHS) is one of the most prestigious and entertaining equestrian events in North America.

Introduced at WIHS in 2013 when the Washington Post dubbed the races “D.C.’s newest, and cutest, sport”, the race is designed to be similar to steeplechase races, but with kid jockeys and ponies. See for yourself why this is such a popular event!
